High-five those chores

Advertiser Staff

spacer

The car needs to be washed. The living-room carpet needs to be vacuumed. Bills have to be paid. Does your "to do" list go on and on? The folks at getorganizednow.com suggest focusing on just five things at a time.

Choose five "to do's" and write them down. Do each of those tasks, checking off each as you complete the item.

When you're done with all the tasks, choose another five.

The system will give you a sense of accomplishment and will help prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.

FAMILY VALUES

Environmentally conscious parents who want to pass their values onto their children may want to check out "EcoKids: Raising Children Who Care for the Earth" by Dan Chiras (New Society Publishers, $17.95).

"EcoKids," which may be ordered at most major bookstores, is aimed at helping parents foster their children's love for nature, teach children the importance of environmental protection, and promote environmental values and inspire action.

FINAL WORD

"Treat your family members as you would treat a friend — as if you have chosen to be in their company and wish them to choose to be in yours."
