The driver, whose age and home address had not yet been determined, was rushed to Pali Momi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead following the 12:30 a.m. crash.

Traffic investigators said the victim's 1999 Grand Marquis crashed into a 2004 Isuzu SUV that was parked on Kaonohi Street.

Speed and/or the use of alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.

A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday behind The Kamehameha Shopping Center in Kalihi after he began to act suspiciously when a blue and while police car passed by him about 12:25 p.m.

A police officer who was driving behind the black Honda Civic noticed it did not have an external rear-view mirror.

The Honda driver quickly pulled to the side of the road to let the police car pass. The police officer then checked on the car's license plates and learned a 52-year-old man had reported the car stolen.

The officer pulled up behind the Honda, watched the driver get out and arrested him for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
