Alcohol ban unlikely this UH football season

Fans will be able to drink alcohol at University of Hawai'i football games at Aloha Stadium for perhaps the entire season.

The Aloha Stadium Authority today approved a resolution that considers a total alcohol ban, but added that the proposal requires more study and alternatives.

Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona had lobbied for a total alcohol ban at UH football games by the Sept. 3 season opener against Southern California.

However, lengthy rule-change procedures will likely delay the proposal until mid- to late-November, at the earliest.
