Carll posts two-stroke victory at Mauna Kea

Kevin Carll shot a 1-over-par 73 yesterday in the final round to capture the Aloha Section PGA Mauna Kea Resort Stroke Play Championship at the Mauna Kea Golf Course.

Carll, of Ko Olina Golf Club, finished the 54-hole tournament at 2-under 214.

Makena pro Brian Sasada and Larry Stubblefield finished tied for second at 216. Stubblefield won the senior division last year.

Mauna Kea's Kevin Hayashi (218) finished in fourth place.

In the senior division, Rodney Acia of Hilo Muni captured the title by 10 strokes. Acia finished at 220. Mike Iyoki, the U.S. Army director of golf, was second (230) and Mauna Lani's Dennis Rose (233) was third.

Life member Ray DeMello (235) won the super senior division, with Kalakaua's Kerry Greenwood finishing second at 261.
