There will be no repeat of an undefeated regular season for the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team.

Top-ranked Nebraska swept Hawai'i, 30-23, 30-26, 30-21, in the season-opening AVCA/NACWAA College Volleyball Showcase before a crowd of 10,028 at Omaha, Neb.

The Rainbow Wahine went undefeated through the regular season last year before losing in the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals.

The Rainbows will play Penn State at noon (Hawai'i time) in the four-team tournament. Nebraska will play Stanford for the championship.

Chris Houghtelling led Nebraska with 14 kills tonight. Victoria Prince led Hawai'i with eight kills.

Hawai'i's Sarah Mason, a transfer from Oregon, suffered an apparent leg injury in the second game and did not return the rest of the match.
