Sunset on the Beach? Yes, and with a beach theme, too.

This weekend's pair of festivals at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki features food booths, entertainment and the biographical film "Duke Kahanamoku: Hawaii's Soul" (which also is on TV tonight; see Iz, Eddie and Duke story at bottom of page) tonight before the main feature.

The tribute to Duke continues with tonight's movie, "The Ride," about a surfer who is somehow transported to the Hawai'i of yesteryear and meets the young Kahanamoku.

Tomorrow's movie is "Blue Crush," about women surfers on the North Shore, where most of it was filmed.

Sunset events begin at 4 p.m.; the films hit the screen after the sun goes down. Admission is free.

And then there's Brunch on the Beach, and it, too, salutes Duke. Entertainment is by the Royal Hawaiian Band, the Kamehameha Schools Hawaiian Ensemble, Kimo Alama Keaulana and Lei Hulu and Danny Kaleikini. And, of course, restaurants will offer brunch food, sold for scrip.

Brunch hours are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow along Kalakaua Avenue. Admission is free. Call 923-1094.
