Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin shot a 2-under 70 yesterday and was tied for 29th after the first of six rounds at the PGA Qualifying Tournament in Winter Garden, Fla.

Michael Allen shot a 64 for a two-stroke lead over Greg Craft, Gavin Coles, Ryan Hietala and Franklin Langham.

The top 30 finishers earn PGA playing cards. The next 50 get full exemptions on the Nationwide Tour.

McLachlin is one of 21 golfers tied at 70. Former Hawai'i resident Keoke Cotner was tied for 118th at 2-over 74.

A total of 164 golfers are attempting to qualify at the Panther Lake and Crooked Cat courses at Orange County National.
