Female officer's jaw broken during assault

A 25-year-old Makakilo man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly punched a police officer in the face, fracturing her jaw, police said.

At 11:24 a.m., police said the officer returned to the scene of an earlier domestic violence call to check on a 20-year-old woman.

Upon arriving, the officer located the 25-year-old man who allegedly assaulted the 20-year-old woman.

Before the officer could say anything to the man, he punched her in the face, police said. The man was subdued and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a law enforcement officer, assault in the second degree, and abuse of a household member.



Man burns girlfriend with curling iron

A 50-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly burned his girlfriend's face with a curling iron.

An argument broke out between the live-in couple sometime yesterday police said. The confrontation escalated and the man grabbed a curling iron and pressed it against the face of his 46-year-old girlfriend.

Police responded and arrested the man on suspicion of assault in the second degree.
