Rainbows to face Texas in NCAA second round

Victoria Prince had 12 kills and seven blocks as the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept Texas State, 30-25, 30-18, 30-23, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament today in Austin, Texas.

Hawai'i (26-6) advances to the second round and will play host Texas (24-4) tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Hawai'i time. The teams are tied at No. 7 in the latest coaches Top 25 poll. The Longhorns (24-4) defeated Louisiana State (21-8), 30-19. 30-28, 30-26, in another first-round match today.

UH's Jamie Houston had 13 kills against Texas State today. Lawrencia Brown led Texas State (17-15) with 13 kills and six digs.

Tomorrow's match will be televised on KFVE (ch. 5) and broadcast on Sports Radio (1420 AM) live at 2:30 p.m.

The winner will advance to the Penn State Regional, Dec. 8-11. The NCAA Championships will be held Dec. 15, 17, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
