Rainbow Wahine beat Texas, advance to regional

The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team advanced to the State College (Pa.) Regional of the NCAA Tournament with a 19-30, 30-18, 30-21, 30-20 victory over Texas in the second round today at Austin, Texas.

Hawai'i (27-6) will face No. 10 Missouri (24-4) in the Round of 16 on Friday in the regional hosted by Penn State. Missouri defeated Arkansas in the second round, 30-25, 30-16, 30-11. The other teams in the regional are No. 23 Tennessee (23-8) and host No. 2 Penn State (31-2). Texas, which shares the No. 7 national ranking with Hawai'i, finished 24-5.

Freshman Jamie Houston led UH with 20 kills. Sarah Mason added 15. Setter Kanoe Kamana'o had 56 assists and 10 digs.
