Moloka'i man killed in hunting accident identified

KAUNAKAKAI, Moloka'i — A Moloka'i man killed last week in a hunting accident was identified today as Juanito Pico, 41, of Kala'e.Police said Pico was with several deer hunters at Waiakane Gulch at about 2 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot by a member of the group. Lt. Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department said investigators have classified the shooting as a miscellaneous accident.
An autopsy done today confirmed that Pico died of a single rifle shot to the abdomen, Cuomo said.
