Saint Louis honors 2 alumni

Saint Louis School has inducted two alumni into its Gallery of Distinguished Achievers. They are Walter Kirimitsu, who is being honored for his work as an advocate for the betterment of the school and the state, and kumu John Lake, for his dedication to teaching and for his commitment to perpetuating Hawaiian culture.

IMMIGRANT GROUP ISSUES AWARDS

Na Loio Immigrant Rights and Public Interest Legal Center has presented its annual Keeper of the Flame awards to the Asian McDonald's Operators Association, the Will-iam S. Richardson School of Law Pre-admission Program and professor Chris Iijima of the law school.

PSYCH GROUP LAUDS EMPLOYERS

The Hawai'i Psychological Association has given Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard its "Best of the Best" Exemplary Practices Award.

Other winners of the association's Healthy Workplace Awards, a statewide program designed to promote psychological health in the workplace, were:

Easter Seals Hawai'i (nonprofit category), Kailua Public Library (government), 15th Medical Group, Hickam Air Force Base (military), M. Dyer & Sons, Inc. (small business), and First Insurance Co. (large business).

MCNEIL WILSON WINS PR PRIZE

McNeil Wilson Communications took the Best in Show Award at the 2005 Koa Anvil and Koa Hammer Awards for public relations professionals. McNeil Wilson was cited for its Kaua'i Family Adventure Press Trip work with the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau.

Shawn Nakamoto, communications services manager for the Kamehameha Schools, was named Gregg W. Perry Public Relations Professional of the Year.

Song Choi, marketing and communications director for the Contemporary Museum, won the Hokupa'a Award, presented to an outstanding practitioner with less than five years experience.

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE NAMES OFFICERS

Margie Van Swearingen has been named new president of the Assistance League of Hawaii. Other officers are vice president Ellen Libby, recording secretary Gretchen Neal, corresponding secretary Norma Byrce and treasurer Marti Frensley.
