Moanalua stars commit to Warriors

Quarterback Stanford Leti and linebacker Quinton Tang of Moanalua High School Tuesday accepted football scholarships from the University of Hawai'i.

"I want to go there because they;re winners," said Leti, who moved from San Diego in 2002. Leti is 6 feet and 190 pounds.

"He looks like he has 2 percent body fat," Moanalua coach Arnold Martinez said. "We call him 'Mr. Hawaiian Islands.' "

Leti, who is projected to play receiver or safety at UH, is the cousin of former Warrior Pisa Tinoisamoa, now a linebacker with the St. Louis Rams.

Leti was a first-team selection as a running back in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White Division in 2004.

Tang, who is 5 feet 11 and 235 pounds, made all of Moanalua's defensive calls. "I could raise my eyebrow, and he knew what to call," Martinez said.

Tang, the OIA White Defensive Player of the Year in 2004, said he chose UH because he wanted to play in front of family and friends.
