Hawaiian Airlines adds new route

Hawaiian Airlines said today it will begin daily nonstop service between San Diego and Maui June 9.

Hawaiian will use a 260-seat Boeing 767-300ER plane for the service. Flight 37 will depart San Diego International Airport at 10:05 a.m. and arrive at Maui's Kahului Airport at 12:35 p.m. The return Flight 38 will depart Maui at 2:05 p.m. and arrive in San Diego at 10:10 p.m.



Applications accepted for UH business plan competition

The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business is accepting team applications for the 2006 UH Hawaii Business Plan Competition.

Teams must consist of at least two but not more than five members. At least one full-time University of Hawai'i student must be on the team. Cash prizes of more than $80,000 will be awarded to winners in the following categories: traditional business, social enterprise, and UH technology.

The deadline to register online is Jan. 31 at www.UHBusinessPlanCompetition.com.



Advertiser's Kanemura honored by Presstime magazine

Chris Kanemura, online content manager for The Honolulu Advertiser, was recognized as one of the "best and brightest young professionals" in the newspaper business by Presstime magazine in its "20 Under 40" feature.

The 20 honorees demonstrate the "zeal, innovation and sharp thinking that's at work in today's newspaper industry," according to the editors who made the selections.

Presstime is published monthly by the Newspaper Association of America, which represents more than 2,000 newspapers in the United States and Canada.
