DirecTV expands Hawai'i service

DirecTV has begun offering local television channels to its Hawai'i subscribers.

Beginning today, subscribers can obtain digital-quality access to KHON, KITV, KFVE KGMB, KHET, KHNL and KIKU. Subscribers can receive the local channels by using a new DirecTV H20 receiver and a 1.2-meter dish. For more information, call (877) 897-8131.



Native Hawaiian business group sets Christmas mixer

The Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce will hold its Pa'ina Kalikimaka annual Christmas Party mixer from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec, 20 at the President's House on the Punahou School campus.

Hawai'i jobless claims fall for Nov. 26 week

Hawai'i continues to rank among the states with the fewest number of residents filing claims for unemployment insurance, the U.S. Labor Department reported today.

Approximately 800 residents filed first-time claims for the week of Nov. 26, down from 1,000 during the same week a year ago. The Hawai'i claims comprised just 0.3 percent of the total claims filed nationally. Only three states had fewer claims as a percentage of the national total.
