Speed and Quickness Clinic sets workshops

The Hawai'i Speed and Quickness Clinic is offering free workshops today and tomorrow at the Honolulu Marathon Expo in the Hawai'i Convention Center.

There is a demonstration clinic for coaches of all sports today from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Coaches are encouraged to bring video cameras.

Tomorrow, there are two sessions. The first session, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., is for ages 7-12. The 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. session is for ages 13 and older.

Rich Miano, who played in the National Football League for 12 years, and Mel deLaura, who has served as a personal trainer for several professional athletes, are the featured speakers.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

CHAMINADE DEFEATS CAL BAPTIST, 87-68

Chris Reaves scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half, and Chaminade raced to an early 29-11 lead and never looked back in rolling past California Baptist, 87-68, last night in a non-conference game at McCabe Gym.

Corey Campbell added 16 points, Chris Nelson 13, and Dylan McCune and Zack Whiting each scored 12 for the Silverswords, who led 49-24 at halftime in improving to 3-4. The Lancers fell to 3-4.

Chaminade's next game is Dec. 16 against Pacific West Conference rival Brigham Young-Hawai'i at the Cannon Activities Center in La'ie. Tip off is 7:30 p.m.
