Affadavit details forced prostitution of girl, 15

A 15-year-old girl had sex with eight different customers during a five-day kidnapping ordeal in which she was forced into prostitution in downtown streets, Honolulu police said yesterday.

Jason Smith, 22, allegedly threatened to kill the girl and her family and told her who to solicit for sexual favors and how much to charge, police said in a court affidavit.

When the girl entered a customer's vehicle downtown, police said Smith's friend, Martzes Djuan Junior, 24, who also goes by the name Junior Martzes, followed in his gray vehicle to make sure she did not run away or call police.

Martzes appeared in District Court yesterday and was charged with two counts of sexual assault in the first degree and one count of promoting prostitution, said Jim Fulton, spokesman for the City Prosecutor's office. Martzes' bail was set at $30,000.

A preliminary hearing for Martzes is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in District Court, Fulton said.

An indictment against Smith accuses him of six counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count each of promoting prostitution and kidnapping.

The girl met Smith and Martzes around 8 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Smith invited her to hang out in his Waikiki hotel room on Kuhio Avenue, according to the affidavit.

The next day, according to the affidavit, Smith allegedly had sex with her four separate times as he pinned the girl's arms and body. On Dec. 2, according to police, Smith and Martzes each pinned her arms above her head and allegedly had sex with her two times each.

The following day, Smith allegedly forced the girl to work as a prostitute and to give him all of the money she made, police said.

On Monday, police said Smith moved the girl to another hotel room on Ala Moana. About 7 p.m., Smith stepped out of the room and Martzes was in the bathroom when the girl fled and called police.

Officers discovered that the room had been rented under the name of Martzes Junior.

The girl identified Martzes on Tuesday as the man who watched her from his gray vehicle as she performed sexual favors with customers, police said.

Martzes was stopped by police at 2 a.m. while he drove a black Mercedes Benz sedan at Ala Wai Boulevard and Kanekapolei Street. When he was arrested, Martzes had a Michigan identification card.
