Suspect arrested driving stolen car

A 39-year-old 'Ewa Beach man was arrested this morning after he was seen driving a car that had been reported stolen.

An officer noticed the car was parked in an area known for drug activity and checked with police dispatchers, who determined the car was on a list of stolen vehicles.

The officer had the car under surveillance when a man got in and began driving mauka on Fort Weaver Road.

The officer ordered the driver to pull over at the intersection of Old Fort Weaver Road and Farrington Highway and arrested him at about 1 a.m. for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.



Husband allegedly breaks wife's jaw during argument

A 29-year-old Kahalu'u man was arrested last night after allegedly breaking his wife's jaw during an argument.

Police said the argument escalated to the point where the husband punched his wife about 10 p.m. He immediately realized he had seriously injured his wife, 27, and drove her to a hospital, police said.

They said the husband told emergency room workers he had punched his wife and the hospital contacted police.

After it was learned the wife had a broken jaw, police arrested the husband for second-degree assault and abuse of a household member.



Suspect arrested for alleged sexual assault

A 38-year-old Kapalama man was arrested yesterday in connection with a sexual assault alleged to have occurred on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old woman filed a report yesterday with police claiming she had been assault by a family member.

The suspect was arrested about 5:20 p.m. at a home on Ahi'ahi Place for suspicion of second-degree sexual assault.



Woman arrested trying to cash stolen check

A 46-year-old Kane'ohe woman was arrested about noon yesterday after she allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at the American Savings Bank Market City branch.

Police said the woman was attempting to cash the check when the teller noticed it had been reported stolen by the account holder.

The teller was able to stall the woman until police arrived to arrest her for suspicion of second-degree forgery and attempted second-degree theft.



Man asks to see camera, tries to run with it

A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he ran out of a store without paying for the camera he was holding.

Police said the man asked a sales clerk to remove the camera from a display case so he could examine it.

The customer indicated he wanted to buy the camera, so the clerk took it to the cash register to complete the sale. At that point, the customer grabbed the camera and ran out of the store, police said.

They said the sales clerk and another worker ran after the man while other employees called police.

Arriving officers located the man and arrested him at 1669 South Beretania for suspicion of second-degree theft.



Woman, 82, robbed at knife point

Police are looking for a man in his 30s who is suspected of robbing an 82-year-old Kalihi woman at knife point on Saturday.

The woman told police she was in her home about 1 p.m. when she was confronted by a man holding a knife, demanding money.

The robber left with an unknown amount of cash but did not harm the victim, police said.



Man, 41, arrested for sexual assault of two girls, 9

A 41-year-old Lanakila-area man was arrested yesterday in a sexual assault case involving two 9-year-old girls.

The girls told police they were assaulted several times by a neighbor during the period of Sept. 1 through Oct. 31.

Police said the suspect turned himself in to the investigating detective on Saturday.

He was arrested for suspicion of one count of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of attempted third-degree sexual assault.

He was later released without charges pending further investigation.
