Two apprehended after islandwide car pursuit

Advertiser Staff

Police have apprehended two people who led officers in an islandwide pursuit that lasted more than an hour. It was the second police pursuit in as many days that involved suspected car thieves.

The two people allegedly stole a 2001 dark blue Dodge Stratus about 11 a.m. today in Punalu'u. A police pursuit followed when the vehicle was reported stolen.

The two drove from town, up and around Punchbowl, through Kalihi, Pearl City, to Honolulu International Airport, and ended in Nu'uanu.

A man and woman exited the vehicle after it struck another vehicle at Hotel and Bethel streets after 1 p.m., and they were apprehended separately.
