The University of Hawai'i football team tonight received a verbal commitment from cornerback Chris "Pacman" Camacho.

Camacho, who played this past season at Citrus College (Calif.), said he made his

commitment during a dinner with the UH coaches.

"Hawai'i is beautiful," he said. "I knew this is where I want to play."

Camacho, who is 5 feet 10 and 190 pounds, said he also received offers from Nevada and New Mexico. He said he visited Boise State, but did not receive an offer.

As a senior at Ramona High School in Riverside, Calif., Camacho once amassed 338 receiving yards in a game. As a sophomore at Citrus, where he was named to the all-conference team, Camacho made 79 tackles and intercepted two passes.

He credited his signing to UH coach June Jones, defensive line coach Vantz

Singletary, linebacker coach Cal Lee, receivers coach Ron Lee, running backs

coach Mouse Davis and his host, defensive back Desmond Thomas.

"Desmond showed me Hawai'i," Camacho said. "I loved it. These are great guys, and I want to be a part of Hawai'i."

Camacho will have three years to play two seasons.
