KIHEI, Maui — A 30-year-old Maui man died yesterday when he crashed his motorcycle on Makena Alanui Road.

Police said Joshua K. Feiteira was heading north at 4:50 p.m. when he lost control of a 2005 Suzuki GSXR and wiped out near Honoiki Street. He was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. at Maui Memorial Medical Center. Police said he was wearing a helmet, but that it may not have been worn properly.

There have been 15 Maui County traffic deaths, including six motorcyclists, this year compared with 19 a year ago. Feiteira is the fifth motorcyclist to have been killed since October.
