Man on work furlough escapes

Police and state sheriffs are looking for an escapee from the Laumaka Work Furlough program, police said.

A 52-year-old man assigned to the program failed to return to the Windward O'ahu facility at 8 p.m. last night.



Police searching for man who robbed retail store

A man in his 30s allegedly robbed a Kapolei business last night.

At 5 p.m. the man walked into a Kapolei retail establishment and handed the cashier a note, then demanded money, police said. Police declined to say what was written on the note or how much money the man made off with.

After the cashier handed the man the money, the man ran out of the store. Police were called and they searched the area but found no trace of the man, police said.



Man allegedly drives car into friend's leg after argument

A man was slightly injured after an argument with a friend ended with his friend hitting him with a car.

At 10:07 p.m. last night the two men, both 39, argued at a gas station before driving off in separate cars. One of the men lost control of his car on Kalani Highway near Keolu Drive and hit a guard rail, police said.

The other man pulled over, and when his friend got out of his car, he drove his car into one of the man's legs, police said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. His friend did not require medical attention but complained of pain, police said.
