ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Hocus pocus for all ages at Christmas show

Advertiser Staff and News Services

There are those who say Christmas is a magical time of year. And there are those who put on magic shows at Christmas — like Kelvin Chun, left. He's one of eight acts performing in family-friendly "Christmas Magic," tonight at Sacred Hearts Academy auditorium.

Tickets are cheap: $5 (ages 11 and under), $7 (the rest of us). The show starts at 7 p.m., but arrive around 6:30 p.m. to catch strolling magicians showing off. At 3252 Wai'alae Ave. Call 599-7870.

HAPA DVD RELEASED IN TIME FOR HOLIDAYS

Hot for Hapa? Their new DVD, "Na Mele: Hapa Maui," is out, but in the run-up to Christmas, available only at PBS Hawaii. Shot live at the PBS studio this year, the DVD gets a general release next month. We especially like the cover art by Wai'anae boy Solomon Enos. To get a copy now, call PBS Hawaii at 973-1187.

FINAL WORD

"I speak Mandarin and study martial arts, so this has always been a dream of mine. I'm going to be a semicomic-relief fighter. You know, like I am in real life on the street."
