Pilot killed in Maui plane crash is identified

WAILUKU, Maui — Maui police today identified a Salt Lake City man killed last week in a single-engine plane crash as Alan Gerow, 58.Gerow was alone and piloting a Cessna 172 rented from Maui Aviators at Kahului Airport when the plane slammed into a hillside Thursday at the 2,400-foot level of Halelakala above Hana. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
