Police Beat: Man stabbed with syringe

A 39-year-old woman was arrested after she stabbed a 37-year-old man man in the chest with a syringe, police said.

Both the man and the woman are being tested for communicable diseases, police said.

At 10:30 a.m. yesterday, the 37-year-old man was working at a construction site at the Chinese Cultural Plaza when he found the 39-year-old with "some contractor's equipment" police said.

The 37-year old and other employees confronted the woman and recovered the equipment. Before she left, the woman lunged at the man and stabbed him in the chest with a hypodermic syringe. The man went to seek treatment and call the police.

When he returned to the job site he spotted the woman again and officers were able to arrest her on suspicion of second-degree assault.

The woman will be tested for disease as will the victim, police said.

Man selling cigarettes beaten, stabbed

Police arrested two men and are looking for a third after they beat and stabbed a 39-year-old man who tried to sell the trio cigarettes, police said.

At 2:15 p.m. yesterday, the 39-year old walked up to three men in 'A'ala Park and asked if they wanted to buy cigarettes. The men said "no" but became agitated, police said.

One of the men brandished a golf club and started swinging it around in a "threatening manner." Another started punching the man, then stabbed him twice in the back. After that, all three began punching the man while he was down.

Patrol officers arrived on scene and arrested one man, 44, on suspicion of second-degree assault and another man, 38, for first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault, police said.

The man's wounds were not life threatening, police said. It is unclear where or how he was treated, police said.

'Construction worker' robs bank

Police are looking for a man who disguised himself as a construction worker and robbed a Kunia-area bank yesterday, police said.

At 2:40 p.m., the man, described as being between the ages of 20 and 30, 5'10" tall, with a medium build, weighing between 160-180 pounds, walked into the bank. As he approached the teller, he was asked to remove his hard hat and sunglasses, police said.

The man passed the teller a note demanding money and walked out of the bank with an undisclosed amount, police said. The man then took off running behind the Royal Kunia Shopping Center, police said.

Man arrested for allegedly kidnapping ex-girlfriend

Police arrested a 41-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and drove around Hawai'i Kai while assaulting her, police said.

On Dec. 17 at 9 a.m., a 26-year-old woman told police that her ex-boyfriend confronted her as she walked to a bus stop and forced her into his car, police said.

The man then drove her around Hawai'i Kai while hitting her, police said. The woman tried to escape several times but couldn't jump out of a moving car, police said.

Eventually, the man pulled into a convenience store to get gas. The woman jumped out and ran to call police. The man took off in his car before police arrived.

Yesterday, Crime Reduction Unit officers located the man and arrested him on suspicion of kidnapping and third degree assault, police said.
