Woman crashes stolen car

A 32-year-old woman Salt Lake woman was arrested yesterday morning after police watched as she crashed a car that had been reported stolen from a 37-year-old woman.The car's owner reported it stolen on Dec. 21. Yesterday, an off-duty police officer saw the car being driven in the Salt Lake area and called police dispatch, who assigned a beat officer to the case.
The officer went to the area where the car had been spotted and saw it pulled over along the side of Salt Lake Boulevard.
The officer confronted the woman sitting behind the wheel, but she started to speed off and collided with several rubbish cans, a fire hydrant and two parked vehicles.
Police officers lost sight of the vehicle momentarily but found it abandoned a short time later. They caught up with the driver near Aolele Street and Kamehameha Highway and arrested her for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Man trying to file report against girlfriend arrested
A 40-year-old man was arrested yesterday for suspicion of first-degree burglary after he got into a tiff Wednesday night with his 28-year-old girlfriend.
Police said the man went to the girlfriend's Wai'anae home about 9:30 p.m. and was arguing with her through an open window.
At one point, the boyfriend grabbed two bracelets from the girlfriend's hand, police said. Police said the girlfriend threw a rock at the boyfriend's car. The boyfriend drove away and went to the Pearl City police station to try to file a report against the girlfriend.
Police said that after all the facts were gathered, the boyfriend was arrested for suspicion of first-degree burglary.
Teen arrested for alleged sexual assault
Police are investigating a reported filed by a 17-year-old Wahiawa girl who said she was sexually assaulted yesterday by her former boyfriend, who is also 17.
Police said the girl reported the alleged incident to her parents, who called authorities.
The former boyfriend was arrested for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and was released later without charges pending further investigation.
Police searching for bank robber
Police last night were looking for a man believed to be in his 20s who robbed the Beretania Street Branch of American Savings Bank about 4 p.m. yesterday.
Police said the teller who was robbed described the suspect as about 5-foot-10, 140 pounds, having a slim build and wearing a black long-sleeve T-shirt and jeans.
One of the tellers said the robber walked up to his window, handed over a note demanding money and lifted his shirt to show a handgun tucked in his waistband.
The robber left the bank after receiving an undisclosed amount of money.
Alleged 'shank' threat leads to arrest
A 29-year-old Iwilei-area man was arrested yesterday at Pearlridge mall after he allegedly threatened to "shank" an 18-year-old man with a knife.
Police were called to the mall about 5 p.m., arrested the suspect without incident for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and recovered a large knife.
