Spring enrollment throughout the University of Hawai'i system has increased by an average of 1.4 percent in comparison with spring enrollment a year ago, university officials said today.Enrollment has increased since fall 2001.
This year's increase is more modest than the increase shown in spring 2004 compared with spring 2003. Six of the 10 campuses have lost students since a year ago. Administrators note that college enrollments traditionally dip in good economic times.
Manoa's increase was the largest, with 3.9 percent more students or 19,161 students this semester compared with 18,448 a year ago. The total enrollment for the system in courses for credit is 47,479 students, with another 34,000 students in non-credit programs. That brings the total enrollment to 81,000.
