New Royal Hawaiian Band leader named

Advertiser Staff Writer

Michael D. Nakasone, director of bands at Pearl City High School, was appointed bandleader for the Royal Hawaiian Band today by Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

Nakasone, 60, has been a music educator with the state Department of Education for 37 years, 28 of those at Pearl City High.

He will replace Aaron Mahi, who has led the Royal Hawaiian Band for more than 20 years.
