Kahuku stars bound for BYU

Two Advertiser All-State first-team football players from Kahuku High will sign with Brigham Young University tomorrow.
Livai added defensive lineman David Niumatalolo will sign with New Mexico State, switching from Division I-AA Weber State.
Eight Kahuku football players are expected to sign with Division I-A schools tomorrow the first day high school recruits may sign binding national letters of intent in a ceremony at the school's gym.
Other Red Raiders who have given verbal commitments are linebackers B.J. Adolpho and Max Fairclough, tight end La'auli Fonoti and offensive lineman Maveu Heimuli all to New Mexico State and running back Micah Strickland, who has pledged to San Diego State.
Livai said seven of the players have already met NCAA academic requirements with the eighth being close. Niumatalolo has a 4.2 cumulative grade point average, 3.96 in core required classes, to go along with a 1200 SAT score.
"That's the kind of things we're hoping for," Livai said.
Hafoka had 39 catches for 774 yards with nine touchdowns; he also had six rushes for 97 yards and one TD.
There will be signing ceremonies at Kamehameha's library for Tyler Williams (Utah), Waika Spencer (San Diego State) and Mika Kane (California), the Advertiser's Defensive Player of the Year.
Baldwin linebacker Kaluka Maiava (USC) is expected to sign his letter along with other players from O'ahu at Kapolei Hale.
