Boulders fall onto Farrington Highway

Advertiser Staff

Police have restricted traffic this morning on Farrington Highway between Makua Cave and Yokohama Bay after 12 to 15 boulders fell onto the two-lane blacktop, police said.

The boulders, which were scattered at various locations over three miles, were first reported at 6 a.m., police said.

Only people with legitimate reasons to pass through the area are being allowed onto the highway, police said. Surfers, fishermen and tourists will be turned back.

O'ahu Civil Defense volunteers were on the scene evaluating the situation.
