ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Heartfelt hue for the day

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Hopefully, you'll be seeing a lot of red today. And wearing it. Macy's and the American Heart Association are partnering again to fight heart disease with the Go Red For Women campaign. It's AHA's national call for women to recognize and reduce their risk of heart disease. The campaign kicks off today with the second annual National Wear Red Day for Women. Show your support of all the women touched by heart disease by wearing red today.

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death for women over the age of 25 in Hawai'i and across the nation.

For heart information, call the AHA at 538-7021 or go to www.americanheart.org. February is American Heart Month.

FINAL WORD

Oscar nominee Hilary Swank on preparing to play a boxer in "Million Dollar Baby":

"I ate 60 egg whites a day. I ate every hour and a half. I could only have 50 grams of carbs a day. They wanted me to put on 10 pounds of muscle in three months. I put on 19 pounds of muscle."
