Kailua tops Roosevelt in OIA East hoops

Kainoa LaCount scored 11 of his 25 points in the third quarter to lead host Kailua over Roosevelt, 59-45, last night for its seventh consecutive O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division victory.
Cory Nemoto added 13 points for the Surfriders (7-4), who led 40-21 after three quarters.
The loss eliminated the Rough Riders from title contention.
Kahuku (9-1) can win the East title with a win over host Kaimuki (8-2) tonight.
If Kaimuki triumphs, Kahuku, Kaimuki and Kalaheo (8-2) could all finish atop the standings with 9-2 records.
Kalaheo will host Kaiser (4-5) tonight.
