CALL FOR DOCENTS

Friends of 'Iolani Palace offers training classes for new docents which will include lectures and activities on the palace and an overview of Hawaiian history and culture, development of public speaking skills including Hawaiian pronunciation, with on-site training and field trips to other historical sites. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays and 9-11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Feb. 28 through July 14. CALLS TO ARTISTS

The ARTS at Marks Garage seeks visual arts proposals for exhibition in the gallery during May and June. Send a one-page synopsis with a visual sample of your work. For additional information contact Rich at 521-2903. Deadline is Feb. 15.

Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation seeks film entries for the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival to be held May 26-29. Entry forms available at www.hglcf.org or by calling 381-1952. Fees for entries postmarked by Feb. 15 are $15 for projects shorter than 30 minutes, $25 for projects longer than 30 minutes; entries postmarked by the March 15 deadline are $20 and $30 respectively (entry fees waived for all Hawai'i-based filmmakers).

Honolulu Printmakers seeks entries in hand-printmaking media for the 77th annual exhibit to be jurored by Kathan Brown and scheduled for Feb. 24-March 18 at the Academy Art Center at Linekona. Fees are $6 per entry for Honolulu Printmakers members, $10 for nonmembers. Call for complete rules: 536-5507. Art Maui 2005 seeks works in various media completed within the past two years by residents of Maui and not previously exhibited for the March 13 through April 10 juried show at the Schaefer International Gallery. Honolulu Academy of Arts seeks 35mm slide entries of works in various media from Hawai'i residents for the June 2 through July 24 Artists of Hawai'i 2005 juried exhibition. Entry fee is $5 per work.
