Diana Krall will perform in Waikiki in May

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Diana Krall, Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, will join the Honolulu Symphony Pops in a one-night engagement at 7 p.m. May 8 at the Waikiki Shell.

Krall, a Canadian, has emerged as one of the top-selling jazz artists in recent years. This week she was nominated for four Juno Awards, Canada's version of the Grammy Awards, and will go head-on with Avril Lavigne as jazz/pop crooner in three major categories: album of the year, artist of the year, and Juno fan choice.

The Honolulu Symphony Pops will be conducted by maestro Matt Catingub. The concert will be Krall's last stop on her current world tour; she will arrive in Honolulu from Asia.

Krall's latest CD is "The Girl in the Other Room," a collaboration with her husband Elvis Costello.

Tickets: $128 for reserved pool area table seating, $93 for first terrace reserved seats, $78 for second terrace reserved seats and $38 for general admission lawn seating. They go on sale at 9 a.m. Feb. 26 at the Blaisdell Center box office and at TicketMaster outlets and online at ticketmaster.com.
