H-1 crash leaves man in critical condition

A 23-year-old Pearl City man was critically injured this morning when he was thrown from his car after it hit a concrete wall on the H-1 Freeway near the Kalihi Street overpass.

Police said the man was eastbound and traveling in the freeway's center lane when his gold, 2004 Nissan Sentra veered to the right about 3:10 a.m., striking the wall and then veering back to the left where it struck the center divider.

The driver was taken to The Queen's Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said they believe speed and consumption of alcohol were factors in the case and that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.



Teen alleges sexual assault

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a 14-year-old visitor who said a 63-year-old man fondled her about 2:40 p.m. yesterday at a restaurant on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.

The man had left the restaurant by the time police arrived but they found him nearby and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault.



Kane'ohe assault reported

A 12-year-old Kane'ohe girl told police she was sexually assaulted by a 16-year-old boy about 1 a.m. yesterday.

The boy, described by police as an acquaintance of the girl, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.



Girl's complaint leads to arrest

A 37-year-old Nanakuli man was arrested in downtown Honolulu yesterday after a 14-year-old girl told the driver of the city bus she was traveling on to school that the man had fondled her several times.

The driver stopped the bus and held the suspect until police arrived and arrested him on three counts of suspicion of third-degree sexual assault.



Tip leads police to stolen auto parts

Police arrested two men in 'Aiea Heights yesterday after allegedly finding a stolen motorcycle and stolen auto parts in the back yard of a home on Kealaluina Street.

Acting on a tip, police went to the home and found the motorcycle and auto parts. They were arresting a 23-year-old man on suspicion of detaining stolen property when he implicated a 42-year-old man in the theft of the motorcycle.

The older man was then arrested for suspicion of motor vehicle theft.
