Two recipes stand out in HECO cookbook

Two recipes in a new collection being sold by HECO employees to benefit Aloha United Way were often requested from Hawaiian Electric Co.'s collection of more than 5,000 dishes.
These sesame seed cookies are like a Western-style baked version of Chinese jin dui sesame confections served at Chinese New Year's.
Sesame Seed Cookies
In the large bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla on low speed. Sift flour with baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Chill about 1 hour.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking sheets. Shape dough into small balls; roll in toasted sesame seeds. Place on prepared baking sheets and flatten slightly with bottom of glass dipped in flour.
Bake 10-12 minutes.
Makes 10 dozen.
• Per serving: 35 calories, 2 g total fat, 1 g saturated fat, 5 mg cholesterol, 25 mg sodium, 4 g carbohydrates, 0 g fiber, 2 g sugar, 0 g protein.

Royal Banana Muffins
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease muffin pans or line with paper muffin liners.
In large bowl of an electric mixer, cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well between each.
Sift flour with baking soda and salt; add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with mashed bananas, mixing between additions.
Spoon into prepared muffin pans. Bake 15-20 minutes.
Makes 12 muffins.
