Police yesterday were looking for a 53-year-old man who is suspected of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on Tuesday at a camping area in Kalaeloa.

The girl said the man, with whom she is acquainted, picked her up near her home about 5 p.m. and drove her to the camping area where he assaulted her in his car.

Police said the girl reported the incident yesterday to a teacher at her school who alerted a counselor who contacted police.

Police classified the incident as a case of second-degree sexual assault.

Unauthorized credit card use reported

A 21-year-old Maunawili woman was arrested yesterday after she allegedly tried to use her mother's credit card without permission to buy a number of items at a gas station in Enchanted Lake.

Police said the woman arrived at Keolu Chevron about 4:30 a.m. and gave the credit card to a cashier who pre-approved the card for a gas purchase.

After the woman filled her tank, she went into the convenience store, selected $42.50 worth of merchandise and attempted to pay for the goods with the credit card.

At that point, the cashier noticed the back of the card had not been signed and she gave it back to the customer to sign. After signing her name, the customer handed the card back to the cashier who attempted to get electronic approval for the purchase.

After the cash register's computer system refused to accept the credit card, the cashier called police who arrested the woman on suspicion of second-degree forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs.
