Hawai'i Pacific tops BYUH

Finis Harwell scored 19 points as Hawai'i Pacific outlasted Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 77-75, in overtime of a Pacific West Conference basketball game last night at Blaisdell Arena.

Aleksander Bojic added 17 points and Audrius Peciukas contributed nine rebounds for the Sea Warriors, who outscored the Seasiders 10-8 in the extra period.

Jake Chrisman scored 23 points and Thomas Watkins 22 for BYUH, which had a chance to force a second overtime period but turned the ball over as time expired.

Chiefs assistant to conduct Hawai'i tryout

Al Saunders, offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, will hold an invitation-only mini tryout session Saturday for approximately 15 eligible Hawai'i athletes.

The athletes include select University of Hawai'i seniors such as West Keli'ikipi and Matt Faga, as well as former Warriors such as Nate Jackson, John West and Houston Ala.

The session will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Saint Louis School field.

Kansas sweeps through Hawai'i-Hilo

Kansas completed a six-game sweep of the University of Hawai'i-Hilo with an 11-1 victory last night at Wong Stadium.

Ryne Price's three-run homer capped a five-run, five-hit first inning that boosted Kansas.

Four errors in the seventh helped the Jayhawks (6-0) score five more runs.

Matt Baty batted 4 for 5 and drove in two runs, and A.J. Van Slyke went 3 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Kansas.

David Chu batted 2 for 3 for Hilo (0-11).
