Tonight's Must-See

"Third Watch," 8 p.m., NBC. Helen Mirren, the brilliant star of PBS' "Prime Suspect," makes a rare visit to a commercial network. Grace (Cara Buono), the paramedic, finds a junkie (Mirren) on the street. She suspects this is her long-lost mother. Meanwhile, a hearse gets in a traffic accident, revealing too many corpses. That pushes Cruz (Tia Texada) to confront a gang leader.

"Joan of Arcadia," 7 p.m., CBS. This show keeps scrambling to add more youth appeal. It recently had Hilary Duff, the popular teen actress and singer, in a guest role. Now her sister, Haylie, begins a three-week spot as a perky assistant to Adam in the design shop. This annoys Joan, who has her own romantic complications. God has told her (it's that kind of show) that she should study the Romantic Movement poets. Now she finds herself torn between Adam and her tutor, Roger.

Of Note

"Enterprise," 4 p.m., UPN (KIKU). It's been announced that this series is being canceled after four seasons. Maybe people will be interested in the final episodes; tonight, Archer (Scott Bakula) seeks a solution to attacks by drone vehicles.

"That's So Raven," 7:30 p.m., Disney Channel. After being relatively serious with a black-history episode last week the show returns to being goofy and silly. Raven and Eddie become dog-groomers, a job they know nothing about. Kathie Lee Gifford plays a dog zealot in a performance that would seem over the top except that in this weird hour, nothing seems excessive.

"The Bernie Mac Show," 7 and 7:30 p.m., Fox. First is a new episode in which Bernie investigates the guy dating his niece. Then, in a rerun, Wesley Snipes plays the boss of Bernie's wife; Bernie, who has spent too much time with kids, manages to embarrass himself.

"Hope & Faith," 8 p.m., ABC. The sisters compete against each other in a fashion contest.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. Charlie has a different way to use his math skills. He's convinced that a student didn't really commit suicide and that his thesis indicates the real cause of death.
