Senate confirms Strance as judge

The state Senate voted unanimously yesterday to confirm Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Strance as a Big Island Circuit Court judge.

Strance, a partner in the law firm Strance and Nakoa, received strong support from people in the Big Island legal community and was rated as highly qualified by the Hawai'i State Bar Association. Strance has been a per diem judge for the 3rd Circuit's District and Family courts since 1999.

Strance was nominated by Gov. Linda Lingle. Her appointment to the bench is for 10 years.
