It's deja vu all over again for the top four O'ahu Interscholastic Association softball teams.
Eugene Tanner The Honolulu Advertiser Both games at the University of Hawai'i's Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium will be televised live on OC-16.
In last night's most dramatic quarterfinal, Shyenne Hussey hit a monster solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and Courtney Kessell pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts to lift Kailua past Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion and No. 1 seed Punahou, 2-1.
It was the last of four big wins for the OIA yesterday.
Earlier, Pearl City, the OIA's fourth-place team, knocked off No. 3 seed Baldwin, 4-3, and league runner-up Mililani blanked No. 4 seed Waiakea, 5-0. OIA champ and No. 2 seed Kapolei held off Kaimuki, 6-2, in a quarterfinal matching two OIA teams.

Parking$3. Kailua, which finished third in the OIA, took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on Alisha Vegas' single, but Punahou tied it in the sixth on Sarah Weisskopf's single to left.
Hussey then slammed a towering home run over the right-center field fence with one out in the bottom of the sixth, and Kessell retired the side in order in the seventh to close out the victory.
Bernard Victor, who has coached Kailua to four state championships since 1994, said last night's triumph ranks among the Surfriders' most significant.
"This is a big win; I felt we were the underdog," Victor said. "I don't think too many people thought we would beat Punahou."
Until last week, many had predicted the two teams to meet in the state final, but Kailua was upset by Mililani in last week's OIA semifinals and then survived 1-0 scares from Pearl City and Moanalua.
Hussey, in particular, was in such a slump she was benched in Wednesday night's first-round game after going 0 for 2 with two strikeouts.
"I was thinking too much (at the plate)," Hussey said. "But we knew we had to step up and score some runs tonight."
Chinen said the game was played with a championship atmosphere.
"I think it was the two best pitchers (Kessell and Weisskopf) in the state against each other," Chinen said. "It's too bad someone had to lose."

Pearl City broke Mililani's six-year hold on the OIA Western Division championship this season, but entered this week coming off two losses in the league tournament. Yesterday, junior Corrie Nishikida tossed a four-hitter and Shanna Vierra slammed a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning after Baldwin took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the inning.
The Bears closed to 4-3 in the sixth on Sanoe Kekahuna's home run over the center-field fence and had the tying run on third base in the seventh, but Nishikida got the final batter to fly out to left.
Nishikida, a right-hander, struck out six and walked three.
"I don't know what happened to us in the OIA tournament, but we still think we can win it," Nishikida said.
Baldwin's offensive attack applying constant pressure using "slap" hits and aggressive base running is strikingly similar to Mililani's. But the Chargers were prepared and Nishikida proved to be an effective neutralizer with her array of off-speed pitches.
"Playing Baldwin is almost exactly like playing Mililani," Pearl City coach Keoke Behic said. "But we prepared hard for a slap-hitting team, and Corrie matched up well with them."
Bears coach Ryan Souza said Nishikida's assortment of pitches kept his hitters at bay.
"She has a good change-up and other off-speed pitches, and those are the toughest to slap," Souza said. "Our girls were a little too anxious, and she did a good job of moving her pitches around."

Tajia Acierto pitched a five-hitter and slammed a two-run home run to lead the defending champion Hurricanes.
Kapolei went up 2-0 in the first inning, scoring on Austi Paris' double and a wild pitch, then made it 3-0 in the third after two Kaimuki errors.
The Bulldogs closed to 3-2 in the fifth after three errors by the Hurricanes, but Acierto answered in the bottom half with a towering home run over the left field fence. Kapolei then added another run on an error.

Ciera Senas went 2 for 4 and followed Sugihara's double with an RBI single to put Mililani up 2-0. The Trojans made it 3-0 in the fourth inning on Melissa Lehano's RBI single and went up 5-0 on Skye Virtudes' run-scoring fielder's choice blooper.

Kapolei (13-4) will play Pearl City (14-3) at 6 tonight, followed by Kailua (16-1) against Mililani (14-3) in a pair of rematches from the OIA semifinals exactly one week ago. But this time it's in the Data House/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association final four.
Kailua's Courtney Kessell supported her own pitching effort with defense, scooping a grounder and throwing out a Punahou runner.
"The OIA is looking really good in this tournament," said Punahou coach Kristl Chinen, whose team fell to 14-1. "This shows the strength of their league."
