Ex-SHOPO head pleads guilty

A former president of the police union has pleaded guilty to two petty misdemeanor charges that he harassed a female friend but is asking for a chance to have the charges dropped.

If granted, the case would be dropped if he abides by conditions similar to probation. If denied, he faces sentencing on the two counts that each carry a maximum of a $1,000 fine and 30 days in jail.

An April 14 hearing has been set.

Police were called after hospital staff members determined that the girl's injuries were inconsistent with the foster parents' explanation.

The girl's foster father was listed as a suspect in the case although he was not arrested.
