Kalaniana'ole Highway will be clear for rush hour

Advertiser Staff

City work crews will suspend repairs to a broken sewer main along Kalaniana'ole Highway from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in an effort to reduce afternoon rush-hour traffic congestion, the Honolulu Police Department said.

All three Koko Head-bound lanes will be opened. Only two town-bound lanes will be open, however.

The damaged 16-inch sewer main ruptured yesterday afternoon just as rush-hour began and snarled traffic for hours.

To prevent that today, repair crews will cover the work area with metal plates until later tonight.
