Youth accused of stabbing playmate

Police arrested a 14-year-old Kailua boy yesterday for suspicion of second-degree assault after the boy allegedly stabbed another 14-year-old boy.

Police said the two boys were playing when things got out of hand and one of the boys stabbed the other resulting in minor injuries to the boy who was injured.

The boy suspected of stabbing his playmate was questioned briefly by police and released to his parents without charges pending further investigation.



Waimanalo man arrested in sexual assault

A 46-year-old Waimanalo man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. The girl contends that she was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance several times between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30 last year.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of first- and third-degree sexual assault.



Roommate accused in forgery and theft

A 36-year-old Kailua man was arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing and forging a check on Monday that belonged to the 30-year-old woman with whom he lives.

The woman told police that her roommate admitted to stealing, forging and cashing the check. Police said the woman called officers to her apartment yesterday and pointed out the suspect who then made a spontaneous, unsolicited confession.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of second-degree forgery.



Travelers check forged

A 35-year-old Makaha man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to cash a forged check at a Wai'anae bank.

Police said the man entered the bank about 2:30 p.m. and handed a teller an American Express Travelers Check, which the teller suspected had been "washed."

The teller learned the check had been reported stolen. Police were called to the bank and arrested the man for suspicion of second-degree forgery.



City bus fire blamed on teens

Three boys and a girl, 14 to 15 years old, were arrested yesterday after they allegedly started a fire on a city bus in Kane'ohe.

Police said the four youths were riding on the bus about 2:40 p.m. when they ignited a bottle of rubber cement.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the bus was evacuated. Police were called and arrested the four suspects for suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage.



Police bikers nab alleged car thief

A 26-year-old Makaha man was arrested yesterday on a variety of criminal charges after police found him driving a stolen car on a bike path in Waipahu.

Two police officers patrolling the bike path on motorcycles saw the man driving a car on the bike path, which is prohibited. One of the officers ran a check on the car's license plate and learned the plate did not match with the car. The officers then learned that a Honolulu woman had reported that the car had been stolen from her.

The man behind the wheel of the car was then arrested for suspicion of car theft, operating a vehicle on a bike path, fraudulent use of a license plate and an outstanding contempt of court warrant.



Empty tank leads to arrest

A 29-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested on the H-1 Freeway near Honolulu International Airport early yesterday after a stolen car ran out of gas near the airport exit ramp.

A police officer noticed that an unoccupied car was parked on the shoulder of the freeway about 4:45 a.m. near the airport exit ramp. The officer ran a check on the car's license plate and learned a 38-year-old man had reported the car was stolen from him on Monday.

About five minutes later, a man arrived in another vehicle and got out holding a gas can. The man with the gas can told the officer he was driving the car when it ran out of gas, at which point he was arrested for suspicion of operating a stolen vehicle.
