Instead, they took the boy to an area near Ala Wai Boulevard and Kanekapolei Street and demanded his jewelry, police said. The boy filed a police report the same night but no suspects could be found.

The boy who was robbed was walking on Kuhio Avenue Wednesday morning when he saw one of the boys who was with the group of youths who robbed him on Monday. He called police who arrested the lone suspect for suspicion of second-degree robbery.

The man walked behind the counter and bashed to cash registers with the bat, but could not force them open.

The would-be robber left the store and smashed the windshield of a car that was pulling into a parking space. He then ran from the parking lot and got into a waiting car, police said.

No money was taken and no one was injured. If caught, the man armed with the bat will likely face charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree criminal property damage, police said.
