A 28-year-old woman who was arrested at the Wal-Mart store on Ke'eaumoku Street last night for suspicion of shoplifting now faces drug charges as well.

Police said a store loss prevention officer watched as the woman took items from the shelf and walked out of the store about 9 p.m. without paying.

Once she left the store, police moved in and arrested the woman who was later found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Felon arrested with handgun

Police responding to a 911 call about 12:50 p.m. yesterday at a Kaunoa Street address in Kapahulu recovered a loaded handgun and arrested a man for suspicion of two felonies.

The man who called police said another man had threatened him and taken items from his car. Police quickly determined that the man making the complaint was a convicted felon and that a handgun he was holding was loaded and had been stolen previously.

Police arrested the man for suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and failing to properly store a firearm.

Courtesy check questionable

Police arrested a 45-year-old Puunui man yesterday for allegedly stealing a credit card courtesy check, forging the check and trying to deposit the check to his own account.

Police had not determined if the check was real or counterfeit but had established that it was filled out and deposited without the consent of the 43-year-old woman who holds the credit card account.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of second-degree forgery.

Sexual assault and kidnapping reported

A 34-year-old Mililani man was arrested for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping early yesterday morning after a 36-woman told police the man kept her from leaving and attacked her.

Police said the man and woman are dating but live at separate residences. Police said the woman told them she waited for the suspect to fall asleep and then called police.

She then identified the man when officers arrived as her attacker and police arrested him.

Cabbie punched; passenger arrested

Police arrested a 23-year-old man in Waikiki early yesterday morning after he allegedly refused to pay his cab fare and punched the driver in the face.

The driver told police he picked the man up in downtown Honolulu and drove him to Waikiki, at which point the customer got out of the cab, walked around to the driver's side and punched the driver in the face through an open window.

Police arrived on the scene about 12:20 a.m. and arrested the man, who was trying to walk away, for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.
