Tonight's Must-See

"Third Watch" (8 p.m.) and "Medical Investigation" (9 p.m.), both on NBC. The shows combine for a crossover episode.

A jewelry store robbery is stopped but that leads to a bigger crisis: The robbery suspect is showing symptoms of an infectious disease that's spreading quickly.

Carlos (Anthony Ruivivar), one of the "Third Watch" guys, is coming down with the illness. So the two top "Medical Investigation" doctors, Connor (Neal McDonough) and Natalie (Kelli Williams), are called in.

In a separate crisis, Wyclef Jean plays a gang leader with Cruz (Tia Texada) in pursuit.

By the second hour, Carlos and the suspect are both in the intensive-care unit. Conner links with "Third Watch" cop Faith Yokas (Molly Price) in a desperate effort to find the other suspect and the source of the infection.

Of Note

"8 Simple Rules," 7 and 7:30 p.m., ABC. In the first episode, C.J. (David Spade) finally meets his dad. In the second, Bridget (Kaley Cuoco) must pass a school test in order to enter a tennis match she needs for a college scholarship.

"The Bernie Mac Show," 7 and 7:30 p.m., Fox. In the first episode, Bernie is happy about his niece being on the school spirit squad — until he sees the flimsy costumes. In the second, he's snubbed at a daddy-daughter dance.

"Joan of Arcadia," 7 p.m., CBS. Will Joan defy her mom and go on an overnight trip with Adam?

"Hope & Faith," 8 p.m., ABC. This expanded episode starts with an interesting premise: Solid, earnest Hope (Faith Ford) is on "Wife Swap," switching families with a spoiled rich woman, played by Wynonna Judd.

"JAG," 8 p.m., CBS. When a fishing boat is fired upon, an international crisis looms.

"Jonny Zero," 8 p.m., Fox. Peta Wilson, who starred in cable's terrific "La Femme Nikita" series, plays a bounty hunter chasing the guy Jonny is protecting.

"Monk," 10 p.m., USA Network. Monk and his new assistant head to Las Vegas to investigate the death of a casino owner's spouse.
