Students honored for relief work

Mask dancer Bulan Djelantik of Bali performs at Kaiulani Elementary School. As many as 235,565 people were killed or are missing in Indonesia, most of them in Aceh, as a result of the tsunami. More than 290,000 people were killed or are missing in 12 countries near the Indian Ocean.

Third-graders Jessica Valdez, Kelly Duong and Danielle LeVuong find humor in an Indonesian mask dance performed yesterday for third and fourth graders at Kaiulani Elementary School. The mask performance was sponsored by the East-West Center and honored Kaiulani students for their efforts to raise a million pennies to help with the Indian Ocean tsunami relief fund.
