BASEBALL

Hilo loses, HPU splits

Brandon Buckman batted 4 for 5 and Brandon Fusilier hit a three-run homer as Nebraska rallied past Hawai'i-Hilo, 12-4, last night in a college baseball game at Wong Stadium in Hilo.

Dustin Timm pitched 5¡ innings of five-hit, one-run relief to earn the victory for the Cornhuskers, who were playing their first game of the season.

CLINICS

Speed at Cooke Field

Feeling a need to improve his speed, Ryan Keomaka enrolled in the Hawai'i Speed and Quickness clinics last year.

This week at the University of Hawai'i's Cooke Field, Keomaka ran 40 yards in 4.4 seconds, the fastest time among Warrior football players. The defensive back's improvement can be traced to his work with plyometrics and resistance training — techniques that will be offered at the Hawai'i Speed and Quickness clinics tomorrow and Sunday.

There are sessions for ages 7 to 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and for ages 13 and older from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Each session is $10, a fee that includes a Jamba Juice coupon.

Fitness at Blaisdell

Members of the University of Hawai'i's football, soccer and women's volleyball teams, as well as from the Hawai'i Speed and Quickness clinics, will conduct several youth clinics during this weekend's Great Aloha Run Family Fitness Expo at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

Tomorrow's schedule: soccer, 10:30 a.m. to noon; football, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; volleyball, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday's schedule: volleyball, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; football, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

There is no charge for the clinics.

Admission to the expo is $4 for adults, and $3 for seniors 65-older, youths 7 to 12 and military with ID. Admission is free for those entered in Monday's Great Aloha Run.
