Faulty railing considered in toddler's fall

Police now believe a defective railing may have caused a 2-year-old toddler to fall Sunday night from the fourth floor of a Nu'uanu apartment building to the pavement below, critically injuring the girl.Police yesterday talked to a 22-year-old woman, who identified herself as the girl's aunt, at the four-story building at 66 Kauila St. just off the Pali Highway.
The woman told investigators the girl fell after one of the railing's vertical bars gave out.
The girl was rushed to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition but hospital officials are declining to release any information about the girl's condition.
Police yesterday concluded there were no suspicious circumstances in connection with the incident.
Early morning assault reported
Police are investigating a report filed by a 21-year-old woman who said she went to a party Sunday night in Mililani, got drunk and was sexually assaulted early Monday morning by a man who also attended the party.
The woman told police she became inebriated, went to a bedroom to rest and was attacked by a man who entered the room between 12:45 and 1:30 a.m. Monday morning.
The woman was examined at treated at the Sex Abuse Treatment Center at Kapi'olani Medical Center.
Police yesterday were looking for a suspect.
Woman reports attack
Wai'anae police yesterday were searching for a man, in his 40s or 50s, who sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman about 10 a.m..
The victim told police the man confronted her and forced her to drive to another location where he took her property and assaulted her before running away.
The woman drove away and reported the incident to police and was then taken to the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
Police said the woman told them she does not know the man who assaulted her.
